generation and sharing. As social media keep extending over the Web as we
know it, new innovative dynamics are formed in the sense of media content
acquiring and sharing trends. Research in this area is important to combine
the fields of semantics and knowledge engineering within social media
platforms, mainly because of the overwhelming amount of disseminated
information and different contextualization types. High quality
contributions addressing related theoretical and practical aspects are
expected.

Topics

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following semantic
media adaptation & personalization aspects in social media:

# Content creation, annotation and modelling for semantic social web
# Semantics-driven indexing and retrieval of multimedia contents
# Semantics-based recommender systems: theory and applications
# Semantic context modelling and extraction
# Social and semantic media collaboration platforms (e.g. semantic wikis)
# Social multimedia tagging and multimedia content communities
# Content customization and adaptation
# Context-aware multimedia applications
# Social network aggregation
# User modelling and dynamic profiling
# Adaptive and personalized multimedia summaries
# Intelligent personalized interfaces
# Hybrid socio-semantic approaches to profiling, recommendation engines or adaptation systems

Special Issue Co-creation enabled by social web @ Information Systems Management

Posted on 04:00 by Unknown

CFP Special Issue "Co-creation enabled by social web: Opinion mining solutions to information overload"

Information Systems Management
(JCR, IMPACT FACTOR 2010: 1.029)

Internet is now a vehicle to express opinions and share information to a
global community. The Web 2.0 phenomenon made the Web social, initiating an
explosion in the number of users of the Web and in the information
available. In this new scenario, collaboration and co-creation with
customers has emerged through habitual use of Web 2.0, by both companies and
clients alike (Vargo & Lusch, 2004). As a consequence of the endless
opportunities of social web, customers today have powerful tools to express
their opinions and influence in business systems. Armed with new tools and
dissatisfied with available choices, consumers want to interact with firms
and thereby ?co-create?
value (Prahalad & Ramaswamy, 2004)

Co-creation concept was introduced by Prahalad and Ramaswamy in their 2000
Harvard Business Review article, ?Co-Opting Customer Competence?.
These authors later pointed out that co-creation is an extension of the idea
developed by researchers interested in user-driven product innovation.
Co-creation is about joint creation of value by the company and the
customer. Corporation must create an experience environment in which
consumers can have active dialogue and co-construct personalized
experiences. Social web appears to adopt a key role in such environment.

But in spite of the importance of the concept and its endless applications
in business, co-creation enabled by social web faces a major challenge:
information overload. With the Social Web, the number of online reviews in
which people freely express their opinions on a whole variety of topics is
constantly increasingly. Opinion mining refers to a new subarea of
information retrieval and computational linguistics which identify and
extract the opinion and sentiments that a text expresses. It determines
critics? opinions about a given product, book review, etc. which are
expressed in online forums, blogs or comments. Opinions are very important
when someone wants to hear the other?s opinions before making a decision.
Opinion Mining has recently been applied in a wide variety of applications
in Politics, Government and Marketing applications.

The purpose of this special issue is to collect innovative and high-quality
research contributions regarding the role played by Opinion Mining and
Sentiment Analysis technologies in the industry.
This special issue aims to explore the application these technologies in the
product/service development cycle by soliciting original scientific
contributions in the form of theoretical and experimental research and case
studies.

Specifically, we seek original contributions on the following topics:
? Sentiment analysis and opinion mining
? Feature based opinion mining
? Application of Semantic Web technologies to opinion mining
? Opinion mining in product or service reviews
? Applications and case-studies

2nd International Workshop on evidenced-based Technology Enhanced Learning (ebTEL 2013)

Posted on 01:13 by Unknown

CALL FOR PAPERS

2nd International Workshop on evidenced-based Technology Enhanced Learning (ebTEL 2013)

In conjunction with the PAAMS 2013 Conference
University of Salamanca (Spain)

Salamanca, Spain, 22-24 May, 2013
http://ebtel.usal.es

SCOPE

Research on Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) investigates how information and communication technologies can be designed in order to support pedagogical activities. The Evidence based Design (EBD) of a system bases its decisions on empirical evidence and effectiveness. The evidence-based TEL workshop (ebTEL) brings together TEL and EBD. The workshop aims at collecting contributions concerning evidence based TEL systems, like their design following EBD principles as well as success stories or best practices that educators, education stakeholders or educational psychologists used to improve their students' learning experience, in particular for students with specific difficulties (e.g. poor/slow readers, students living in impoverished communities or families).

The previous edition of ebTEL collected TEL contributions from computer science, artificial intelligence, evidence-based medicine, educational psychology and pedagogy. Like the previous edition, the international ebTEL´13 edition wants to be a forum in which TEL researchers and practitioners alike can discuss innovative evidence-based ideas, projects, and lessons related to TEL. The meeting will be held in Salamanca on May 22nd-24th 2013, in parallel with the PAAMS'13 International Conference.

KEYWORDS

Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:

- Evidence-based personalisation, user modelling and adaptation in TEL
- Evidence-based games and game learning for TEL
- Knowledge representation and reasoning for evidence based TEL
- Knowledge management and evidence based TEL
- Natural language processing and evidence based TEL
- Semantic web and evidence based TEL
- Web 2.0 and Social Learning environments for evidence based TEL
- Sharing and interoperability between evidence-based TEL systems
- Effective teaching techniques and strategies for learning
- Evidence based design case studies
- Evaluation guidelines, methodologies and methods for evidence based TEL
- Evidence based TEL for users with special needs

EXPECTED PARTICIPANTS

The ebTEL workshop invites contributions in the area of TEL, both from computer science as well as evidence based medicine, educational psychology and pedagogy. Researchers from these areas and education stakeholders are all expected contributors or participants. The organising committee will particularly encourage the participation of stakeholders and researchers in the educational or TEL field so as to foster the sharing of best practices in the field, and disseminate the research progress in the educational context.

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS

We invite the submission of papers (max. 8 pages in Springer format) reporting original research, not previously published, relevant to the workshop's themes.

All submissions will be carefully reviewed by an international program committee. All submitted papers will undergo a thorough review process; each paper will be refereed by at least two experts in the field based on relevance, originality, significance, quality and clarity.

he proceedings of the previous edition of ebTEL are available via Springer at http://www.springer.com/engineering/computational+intelligence+and+complexity/book/978-3-642-28800-5.

PRESENTATION AND PUBLICATION

ebTEL will be a full-day workshop. It also foresees keynote presentations by experts in the TEL area.

All the accepted papers will be presented during the workshop and published by Springer in the Advances in Intelligent and Soft Computing series. At least one of the authors will be required to register for the workshop in order to present the paper and have it included in the proceedings.
