organized in Utrecht where we will celebrate the 300th anniversary of the Treaty of Utrecht, signed
in 1713. The Treaty of Utrecht also inspired the proposed conference theme: "Beyond Borders".

Research, Research-in-Progress, and Teaching Cases
Papers for ECIS cover all aspects of information systems, broadly defined, and may take the form of
completed research papers and research-in-progress. Research papers should document established
results and be presented according to the highest academic standards. Research-in-progress may
address work still under development; academic rigor is, however, still expected. The Teaching
Cases track has specific guidelines for submissions (see the info on the website).
Research papers, research-in-progress, and teaching cases will be published in the ECIS conference
proceedings and made available in the AIS eLibrary (aisel.aisnet.org/ecis/). Research papers and
teaching cases will be presented in interactive conference track sessions. Research-in-progress
papers will be presented in a poster session specifically designed to allow interaction between
authors and their interested colleagues.

Formatting and Submission
Authors should submit to the track that best fits the research. Research papers and research-in-
progress papers are limited to 12 pages in length. Teaching cases can be up to 16 pages long.  All
submissions must use the Word template on the website. Submissions to ECIS2013 must be original
and must NOT already have been published previously in a journal or conference proceedings, nor
presented at another conference. Moreover, they must NOT be currently under consideration for
publication or presentation elsewhere. Note that a person can be (co)author of NO more than 3
submissions to ECIS 2013 to assure diversity at the conference. Deadline for submissions is 7
December, and no extensions will be allowed.

Copyright
Copyright for all papers resides with the authors. By submitting the final paper to the conference
organizers, the authors agree to allow the conference organizers to have non–exclusive use of the
material for publication in the conference proceedings. Authors are actively encouraged to develop
their papers for journal publication after the conference. Several tracks have arranged fast-track
submission to journals; please check the track descriptions on the website.

Author guidelines
Please go to the conference website www.ecis2013.nl for author guidelines. There a Word document
template is available that will simplify the layout of your submission.
