Assistant/Associate Professorship or Professorship in Computer Systems/Data Management

The Department of Computer Science (www.diku.dk) at the University of
Copenhagen invites applications for 1-2 positions in computer systems
and/or data management. Candidates at all levels are invited to apply:
full professor, associate professor and assistant professor.
The department is expanding its research and teaching activities in big
data and cloud computing. Also, the department is expected to collaborate
closely with the upcoming Data Management and Software Center (DMSC) for
the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund
(europeanspallationsource.se/data-management-and-software).
The applicant should have significant research experience in the area of
computer systems and/or data management. Some relevant subareas include:
databases, distributed systems, parallel systems (including language
design and compilation techniques), computer networks, security and cloud
computing. The applicant´s research should include considerable
experimental experience.
For positions at the associate and full professorship level, significant
research management experience and documented ability to attract research
grants is expected.
Assistant professorships have been established to promote the careers of
young scientists. The initial appointment is for four years. If the
applicant is successful a permanent position within the same research area
will subsequently be advertised through an open call.
Successful candidates are expected to be involved in teaching primarily on
the computer science program, but also on other IT programs at the
department such as the bachelor´s and master´s programs in Communication
& IT.
The positions are open from August 1, 2013 or as soon as possible
thereafter.
Duties may include the successful applicant's own research, development
of the field, assessment tasks, grant applications, and research
management such as supervision and training of research fellows and other
staff. The successful applicant must also teach, prepare and participate
in examinations, and fulfill other tasks requested by the Department.

According to the Ministerial Circular on Job Structure it requires a Ph.D.
or corresponding scientific qualifications to apply for an Assistant
Professorship. Appointment to an Assistant Professor position is limited
to a 4 year fixed-term period. During that period, the Assistant Professor
must attend a course in pedagogy (adjunktpædagogikum) or provide evidence
of similar qualifications.
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the
Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional
Associations on Academics in the State

/Circular/2012/013-12.ashx). While negotiation for salary supplement is
possible, the starting salary is currently
For Professors - DKK 579,959 including annual supplement (+ pension DKK
99.173)
And
For Associate Professors - up to DKK 441,149 including annual supplement
(+ pension up to DKK 75,437)
And
For Assistant Professors - up to DKK 402,046 including annual supplement
(+ pension up to DKK 68,750)
