Requirements engineering (RE) is arguably the most sensitive of all activities involving the development of software or more generally systems in which software plays an integral part.
The environment in which RE is being practiced has changed dramatically in recent years, with software becoming ubiquitous in all walks of life. Examples of this shift of emphasis include the use of smart mobile devices, the move of high-performance computing and data to the “cloud”, the coupling of real-time data via RFID tags to ERP administrative systems, the increasing need or inter-organizational information systems, the rise of the service science movement, etc. Therefore, there is a need to build on existing successes in RE primarily those concerned with notations, tools and methods and to re-think some of the principles underpinning requirements.
In the context of this new focus on research in RE, the Department of Informatics and Telematics www.dit.hua.gr of Harokopio University of Athens, is inviting applications for PhD positions of candidates interested in the field of RE.
