AIMS and SCOPE
Although there is a growing convergence of Software Engineering and Human-Computer Interaction approaches and values as far as Usability Evaluation is concerned, a remarkable distance still keeps Conceptual Modeling apart from Interaction Design. This workshop aims to build a body of applied knowledge on the increasingly relevant relation between Conceptual Modeling and Interaction Design.

Conceptual modeling techniques are relatively mature but in contrast, interaction design approaches still rely on natural language or impromptu notations to make explicit their inherent conceptual intricacies.

Further, there is considerable dichotomy between data modellers, who are focused on producing accurate models in a format suitable for machine processing, and interaction designers, who are primarily concerned with producing behaviour models in a format suitable for human consumption.
Nevertheless, the design and development process of these models potentially follows a similar process, which this workshop uses as a common ground between Conceptual Modeling and Human-Computer Interaction.

The aim of the workshop is thus to provide a platform for bringing together conceptual modeling and human computer interaction researchers and practitioners in an attempt foster the two way transfer of design and evaluation techniques across conceptual modeling and interaction design.

TOPICS
Contributions, preferably with case studies and empirical work could address, among other, the following issues:

Which conceptual modeling techniques are useful as the basis for interaction design and do such techniques support contemporary or emerging interaction design approaches?
How can existing conceptual modeling techniques be integrated with contemporary or emerging interaction design approaches?
Can interaction design approaches contribute towards better designed conceptual models?
How can interaction design evaluation practices be integrated with contemporary or emerging conceptual modeling approaches?
How can the design of a systems’ conceptual model influence the design of the system’s interaction with its users, and viceversa?
How can the evaluation of user interface prototypes support the improvement or customization of the underlying conceptual models?
SUBMISSION
The workshop is looking for two different types of submissions. In particular, we accept regular full papers (up to 10 pages), and posters (4 pages). All submissions should be formatted according to the Springer LNCS template http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-6-793341-0

Submission should be submitted through the EasyChair system: https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=cmhci13

All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed by at least two members of the program committee for originality, significance, clarity, and quality. Final versions of accepted submissions will be published, together with accepted submissions from other ER 2013 Workshops, as a single volume of Springer LNCS to be distributed at the ER 2013 conference.
